Wetsuit sizing: how a swim wetsuit should fit

Use the maker’s size chart and fitting instructions to check a swimming wetsuit before entering the water.

Sizing varies by brand and model. Use the manufacturer's chart and measurements requested; ordinary clothing size may not transfer.

Check carefully

Follow instructions for putting it on and positioning it. Check that it allows the movements needed for swimming and does not cause painful restriction. Loose fit can allow water through; restrictive fit can affect movement. Ask the maker or retailer if uncertain.
